Former “Saturday Night Live” regular Chris Redd was punched in the face Wednesday night by an unknown assailant outside the Comedy Cellar in Manhattan, TMZ reported on Thursday.

He was then rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he was treated and released. Witnesses said police took photos of Chris’s injuries, which included a deep cut on his nose.

The assailant was reportedly wearing a security guard uniform. Noam Dworman, the owner of the club, told TheWrap that none of their employees wear uniforms and that the assailant was “not an employee.”

The suspect fled by the time police arrived on the scene.

Witnesses also said that the suspect pulled a chain from Redd’s neck.

Redd left “SNL” ahead of Season 48 after five seasons on the show.

A representative for the comedian did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.
