Colin Hanks Joins ‘Dexter’ as Artifacts Expert

With Showtime promising that “hell breaks loose” next season, is the show taking an occult turn?

Colin Hanks will join Showtime's "Dexter" in its sixth season, playing an expert on ancient artifacts who gets linked to a series of, you guessed it, horrific murders.

That announcement, coupled with Showtime's promise that "hell breaks loose" next season, suggests either that Dexter will try to solve occult-themed killings — or that your guess is as good as mine.

Hanks, coming off the scrappy-but-cancelled Fox show "The Good Guys," will appear in all twelve episodes of the new season. It will shoot in Los Angeles next month and air in the fall.
