Comic-Con: Tim Burton Teases ‘Frankenweenie,’ Recalls ‘Horrible Memories’ of School

"Beetlejuice" filmmaker Tim Burton took fans inside the lightning-struck town of New Holland

Tim Burton kicked off Disney’s star-studded panel at Comic-Con on Thursday by discussing his upcoming film, “Frankenweenie,” and sharing 'horrible memories" of school.

Getty ImagesBased on his own short film of 1984, Burton gave his rabid fans an “homage trailer,” as well as a few other teaser clips.

One of those teasers took viewers inside a classroom in New Holland, where the story takes place. Little stood out more from Burton’s question and answer session than his distaste for school, a subject he chose to return to repeatedly.

“I went back and remembered kids I went to school with,” Burton said of the clip. “Everyone felt really strange in school, the kids and the teachers.”

He said that even now when he walks into a school he freaks out due to “horrible memories.”

Later, when someone else asked him if dreams or nightmares inspired his work, he said that he always used to have nightmares about going to school.

“What did they do to you there?” emcee Chris Hardwick asked.

“There are still lawsuits pending,” Burton quipped.

Disney did not make the school scene available, but here is the homage trailer:
