‘Community’ Creator Dan Harmon Ignores Fox Pilot Writing Duties in ‘Harmontown’ Trailer (Video)

Friends and colleagues including Joel McHale, Sarah Silverman and Jack Black also make appearances to offer up opinions of the TV writer and comic

“Community” creator Dan Harmon kept himself busy with a comedy tour after he was axed from the NBC sitcom, and apparently ignored writing a Fox pilot in the process.

“I have a Fox pilot I’m supposed to be writing right now, and if they saw what I was doing, they’d be very upset with me,” Harmon says in the first trailer for “Harmontown” (above).

The documentary from director Neil Berkeley follows Harmon — who was fired from running “Community” in 2012 and rehired in 2013 — on the road with his popular podcast as performs live for his cult-like fan base, known as Harmenians, across the country.

Harmon’s famous friends like Jack Black, Joel McHale, Sarah Silverman and Ken Jeong also make appearances to talk about what makes the writer so likeable amongst comedy fans, and unlikable amongst TV executives.

“Dan speaks his mind, and it has gotten him into trouble,” McHale says.
