“Carolina Caroline” is coming home.
The romantic crime drama from director Adam Carter Rehmeier stars Samara Weaving and Kyle Gallner as a Bonnie-and-Clyde-type couple on the run, pulling crimes and falling in love along the way. It was one of the best, most underseen movies of the summer, but thankfully it’s coming to home video on Tuesday via video-on-demand and Blu-ray.

“Carolina Caroline” had its world premiere at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival, where it played as part of the Centerpiece program and was warmly reviewed. It promptly picked up by Magnolia Pictures, who released the movie this past June.
But it will probably really excel on home video.
That’s where Rehmeier’s dark comedy “Dinner in America” became a sensation during the pandemic and where his follow-up, the charming coming-of-age film “Snack Shack” (produced by Rian Johnson’s T-Street and co-starring a pre-“Off Campus” Mika Abdalla) also found its audience. So it’s likely that “Carolina Caroline” will follow suit.
Weaving has had a very busy 2026, having also appeared in Searchlight’s horror sequel “Ready or Not 2: Here I Come” and Jorma Taccone’s dark comedy “Over Your Dead Body.” She was also recently cast as Emma Frost in Marvel Studios’ new iteration of “X-Men” (alongside Adam Driver, Christopher Abbott, Sadie Sink, Kit Connor, Maya Boyd and Inde Navarrette) and even welcomed her first child earlier this year.
So if you want to see her really shine, you should definitely check out “Carolina Caroline.” Her chemistry with Gallner is really wonderful and there’s a scene she shares with Kyra Sedgwick that is one of the best, most powerful sequences of the year.
“Carolina Caroline” is on video on demand, Blu-ray and DVD starting Tuesday.
