‘Dahmer’ Debuts at No. 1 Spot on Netflix Top 10 Amid Series’ Ethical Concerns

On the English Films side, ”Do Revenge“ held the No. 1 spot for a second week

“Monster — Dahmer: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story,” the limited drama series co-created by Ryan Murphy and starring Evan Peters as the infamous serial killer, has debuted atop the Netflix Top 10 English TV list with 196.2 million hours viewed, making it the most-viewed title this week. Released Sept. 21, “Dahmer” has sparked questions on social media concerning the ethics of dramatizing the real-life story for entertainment purposes, with the victims’ own family members saying it is “retraumatizing” them.

On the English Films side, “Do Revenge” — the popular Gen Z homage to ’90s teen classics like “Clueless,” “Cruel Intentions” and the aughts’ “Mean Girls” — held onto its No. 1 spot for a second week with 42.55 million hours viewed. The candy colored dark comedy stars Maya Hawke, Camila Mendes and Austin Abrams.

In the No. 2 spot for the English TV list was “Fate: The Winx Saga” Season 2, which garnered nearly 61 million hours viewed, while Season 1 entered the list with 20.25 million hours viewed, at the No. 5 slot. In its third week, Season 5 of “Cobra Kai” held its ground with 38.1 million hours viewed, while Seasons 1 and 2 of “The Crown” remained strong with 25.7 million and 17.5 million hours viewed, respectively. Based on the original ’90s Australian dramedy of the same name, “Heartbreak High” debuted at No. 6 with 18.25 million hours viewed. Released Sept. 14, it takes viewers inside the world of high school friends and frenemies. The rest of the English TV list was rounded out by “Dynasty” Season 5, “The Imperfects” and “Sins of Our Mother” occupying the remaining three spots, respectively.
