‘The Dark Knight Rises’ in Pittsburgh

Christopher Nolan to wrap up his Batman saga in Pennsylvania

Gotham City is moving to southwestern Pennsylvania.

The Pittsburgh Film Office announced on Tuesday that "The Dark Knight Rises," the final installment of Christopher Nolan's big-screen Batman trilogy, will be filmed in Pittsburgh, beginning this summer.

British director Nolan, who has never filmed in the area before, said he chose The Steel City for its architecture and diverse locations.

“Pittsburgh is a beautiful city," Nolan noted. "We have been able to find everything we were looking for here and I am excited to spend the summer in Pittsburgh with our final installment of Batman.”

"The Dark Knight Rises" is scheduled to hit theaters on July 20, 2012.

Pittsburgh will also serve as the location for the Emma Watson/Logan Lerman film "Perks of Being a Wallflower." The upcoming Taylor Lautner action-thriller "Abduction" was also recently lensed there.
