Disney Media Networks Seeking Buyers for 7 Radio Disney Markets

The cost-cutting move would allow Radio Disney to focus on stations in 24 of the top 25 markets

Disney Media Networks is seeking buyers for seven radio stations, which are part of the Radio Disney portfolio, the company told TheWrap Tuesday.

The prospective sales are located in the following small-to mid-sized markets: Albany (NY), Kansas City (MO), Little Rock (AR), Milwaukee (WI), Richmond (VA), Salt Lake City (UT), San Antonio (TX).

"The sale will allow Radio Disney to focus on its owned and broadcast operations, supported by local and national advertisers, in 24 of the 25 top markets, and its national advertiser-supported digital and satellite distribution platforms," Disney said.

Phil Guerini, Vice President, Programming and General Manager, Radio Disney, said, "In the past year, we're driven new content delivery and ad sales revenue opportunities with Radio Disney Junior and the Radio Disney Music Awards among others initiatives, and we intend to build on those opportunities while keeping our organization strong and focused on serving our listeners with programming that entertains and is appropriate for kids- and families."

Radio Disney is a network of radio stations based in Burbank, California.
