Ed Sheeran will be the next pop star to give one lucky MTV viewer the “Ultimate Fan Experience,” the network told TheWrap exclusively Tuesday.
The British singer/songwriter follows artists like Nick Jonas, One Direction and Maroon 5 as the grand prize in the MTV contest, presenting a private, acoustic show to a winner and guest.
“It’s always my goal to connect with everyone in the audience at my shows,” Sheeran said in a statement. “No matter how large the venue, each person should feel like I’m performing just for them. With the ‘Ultimate Fan Experience,’ I literally get to do just that.”
The “Ultimate Fan Experience” winner will also receive roundtrip airfare to Austin, Texas, where Sheeran kicks off the North American leg of his “x” tour. The album (pronounced “multiply”) spawned hit singles “Don’t” and “Sing” and was nominated for Album of the Year at the 57th Grammy Awards.
MTV will run a series of spots advertising the contest, which is presented by Applebee’s, and driving fans to Sheeran’s Ultimate Fan Experience website on its various channels and platforms (including MTV, MTV Hits, MTV.com, and MTV Artists).
Additional artists are slated to participate in the “Ultimate Fan Experience” throughout 2015.
