Colorado Theater Shootings: James Holmes Asks How ‘Dark Knight Rises’ Ends (Report)

The accused gunman's behavior in jail has been described as erratic and unstable

James Holmes watched the first half-hour of "The Dark Knight Rises" before slipping out, arming himself and allegedly killing 12 people and wounding 58 in a mass shooting.

Now, the suspected gunman wants to know how the movie ended.

"Did you see the movie?" Holmes asked a worker at the Arapahoe County Jail in  Centennial, Colo., Tuesday, according to the New York Daily News. "How does it end?"

Holmes' voice reportedly was flat and his eyes — like in the video of him in court Monday — glazed.

A witness to the exchange between Holmes and the worker told the paper that the 24-year-old former Ph.D student "was trying to look like he was sincerely curious," and "he's trying real hard to act crazy."

And when police put evidence bags over his hands to preserve traces of gunpowder residue, Holmes — who allegedly told police he was the Batman villain the Joker — pretended the bags were puppets, ABC News said.
