“Fox & Friends” hosts were not amused by “SNL’s” cracks about Winsome Sears, who is the first woman and first woman of color to be elected lieutenant governor of Virginia, and a campaign photo of her hold a gun. “They can’t tolerate it so they have to smear,” Pete Hegseth commented, adding that Sears is the left’s “worst nightmare.”

During the Weekend Update segment, Michael Che joked that the lieutenant governor-elect was “attempting suicide-by-cop,” and that “this is actually a win for Democrats because nothing will get Republicans to support gun control faster than this picture.”

“Fox & Friends” hosts Hegseth and Rachel Campos-Duffy audibly groaned as they discussed the jokes. Pointing out the fact that Sears is a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, Campos-Duffy called the sketch comedy show “so bad and not funny” and “disgusting.”

“We were watching during the break, and it was like, ugh,” Hegseth said.

Along with “SNL,” they also complained about other liberal outlets’ critical coverage of series. Michael Eric Dyson, for instance, has called Sears a “Black mouth” speaking for White supremacy.

“She’s their worst nightmare,” Hegseth said of Sears. “They can’t tolerate it, so they have to smear.”

Sears was elected last week alongside Republican governor-elect Glenn Youngkin, who beat out Democrat Terry McAuliffe despite Joe Biden winning the state in last November’s presidential election by 10 points. Sears is expected to be inaugurated on Jan. 15, 2022.
