Fox has renewed the “X-Men” universe series “The Gifted” for a second season, the network announced on Thursday.
The Marvel drama has been a success for Fox in its first season, averaging a 2.0 rating with seven days of delayed viewing, according to Nielsen. The two-hour season finale will air on Jan. 15
The show follows two ordinary parents (Stephen Moyer and Amy Acker) who discover their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants who must fight to survive.
Natalie Alyn Lind, Jamie Chung, Blair Redford, Sean Teale, Emma Dummont, Percy Hynes White and Coby Bell also star.
The series is produced by 20th Century Fox Television and Marvel Television. Showrunner Matt Nix, “X-Men: Dark Phoenix” director Bryan Singer, Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg serve as executive producers on the series, alongside Marvel’s Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory.
