Fox has promoted Will Somers to executive vice president, head of research, the network announced on Wednesday.

In his new role, Somers will collaborate with the network’s programming team to support and advise producers with program research, and leverage digital and social media analytics across the network.

He will continue to oversee national, local and multi-platform ratings analysis and consumer insight for FOX’s primetime entertainment division, as he did in his previous role as SVP.

“As the industry faces dramatic shifts in consumers’ viewing habits, Will has played an important role in helping shape FOX’s multi-platform strategy,” said Fox Television Group Co-Chairmen and CEOs Dana Walden and Gary Newman. “His ability to thoroughly analyze complex audience data and marketplace trends will keep our company focused and strongly positioned for success.”

Somers first joined the network in 2000. His areas of focus include interpretation of audience behavior, ratings production, interfacing with Nielsen Media Research, cross-platform consumption, TV-related social media activity and primary audience feedback.

Prior to joining Fox, Somers served in the research department at the Walt Disney Company’s Buena Vista Television syndication and Touchstone Television studio, where his responsibilities included audience analysis, pilot testing and series maintenance.
