FremantleMedia North America has moved Rick Glankler to president of commercial operations, following the announcement that it would move out of the kids and family entertainment space.

In the newly-created role, Glankler will help identify potential investment opportunities, and mergers and acquisitions targets; shepherd licensing, sponsorship and branded content deals and partnerships; lead the company’s marketing and communications functions; and oversee Fremantle’s digital efforts, including the vintage game show digital multicast network BUZZR.

Effective immediately, he will report to FremantleMedia North America CEO Jennifer Mullin.

Glankler previously served as president and general manager of the company’s kids and family entertainment division, which it announced in January would be sold to the Toronto-based Boat Rocker Media.

“Rick has been a huge asset to FremantleMedia since joining the company in 2013. His passion and dedication to the business has brought with it enormous results,” Mullin said in a statement. “Rick has exceptional vision and a proven track record of being able to build businesses and make strategic alliances. It’s with great admiration that I welcome him to the FMNA team.”

“I am excited to continue my journey with the FremantleMedia family and look forward to the new challenges and opportunities this role will bring,” said Glankler. “With a phenomenal line-up of some of the most proven brands in entertainment and a vast array of new projects coming down the pipeline that are attracting the best talent in the industry, it’s a truly amazing time to be joining FremantleMedia North America.”
