“Game of Thrones” author George R.R. Martin is in the early stages of development on a new series at HBO.
The project, with the working title “Captain Cosmos” is summed up: “At the dawn of the age of TV in 1949, a visionary young writer creates a science fiction series that tells stories no one else will dare to tell.”
The pilot is being written by Michael Cassutt (“Z Nation,” “The Outer Limits”). Martin, who writes the “Song of Ice and Fire” novels on which the blockbuster HBO series “Game of Thrones” is based, would serve as producer if “Captain Cosmos” moves forward.
Entertainment Weekly was first to report development of the project.
