HBO’s “Game of Thrones” continued its ratings ascent on Sunday night, while the new series “Last Week Tonight With John Oliver” inched up from its solid debut with its second episode.
“Game of Thrones” hit a series high of 7.2 million total viewers with its 9 p.m. airing, up from its previous high of 6.9 million last week.

With replays factored in for the night, “Game of Thrones” amassed 8.6 million total viewers, a slight increase over the 8.4 million that the show accrued over multiple plays the previous Sunday.
“Last Week Tonight With John Oliver” at 11, meanwhile, grabbed 1.2 million total viewers, an 8 percent increase over last week’s series premiere, which drew 1.1 million viewers with its initial airing. For the night, Oliver’s show grabbed 1.5 million total viewers.

Elsewhere during Fox’s Sunday night, the new Mike Judge comedy “Silicon Valley” at 10 averaged 1.8 million total viewers, its best performance since its series debut, and collected 2.1 million total viewers across two airings for the night.
“Veep” at 10:30 hit a season high of 1 million total viewers, with 1.4 million total across two airings.
