Roger Howarth is stepping away from Port Charles in order to spend some time in Central City.
The actor, known to “General Hospital” fans as Robert James “Franco” Frank, has been cast on The CW’s freshman superhero series “The Flash,” a spokesman for the network told TheWrap on Monday.
Howarth will play Mason Bridge, an award-winning reporter from the Central City Picture News who’s assigned to shepherd new employee Iris West. However, their relationship becomes complicated when Bridge begins to investigate Barry Allen’s mentor Dr. Wells.
He will first appear on “The Flash,” which stars “Glee” alum Grant Gustin as the titular speedy hero, during its 11th episode.
In addition to his work on “General Hospital,” the soap opera veteran has starred in “One Life to Live” and “As the World Turns.”
Howarth is joining fellow newcomer Andy Mientus. The “Smash” veteran will play Hartley Rathaway, aka the Pied Piper, which will be the series’ first openly gay character.
