George Takei, Ken Jeong to Be Honored at 15th Unforgettable Gala

Annual event honors Asian American trailblazers in the entertainment industry

Actors George Takei and Ken Jeong will be honored at the 15th Annual Unforgettable Gala next month.

The event, which honors Asian American trailblazers in entertainment, will be held at The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles next month. Jeannie Mai will host the gala.

Takei will receive the Icon Award for his lifelong achievements in TV and film and Jeong will be honored as Actor of the Year for his role on the ABC comedy “Dr. Ken.”

In addition, YouTube’s Wong Fu Productions will receive the Digital Influencers Award, and Jennifer Yuh Nelson of “Kung Fu Panda 3”  will be named Director of the Year. Brian Tee of “Chicago Med” will receive the Ultimate Drive Award, presented by BMW of North America.

Founded in 2002 by James Ryu of Kore Asian Media, The Unforgettable Gala honors those who exemplify the strength and future of a thriving Asian American and Pacific Islander community in entertainment.

“With the growing mainstream success of hits like ‘Master of None,’ ‘Hawaii 5-0,’ ‘The Mindy Project,’ ‘Fresh off the Boat,’ and ‘Dr. Ken,’ we are excited to gather in celebration and support of these achievements in the Asian American community,” Ryu said in a statement.
