‘Gotham’ Premiere Clip: The Penguin Shows Off His Icy New Bar (Exclusive Video)

After a falling out between the Sirens in Season 3, their club is now Cobblepot’s club

The end of “Gotham” Season 3 was pretty eventful, with one particularly major, canon-breaking development: Tabitha’s (Jessica Lucas) apparent murder of Barbara Kean (Erin Richards). Afterward, the Oswald “Penguin” Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor) took over Tabitha and Barbara’s night club, The Sirens, and renamed it the Iceberg Lounge (a name that many a nerd will find familiar).

We’ve obtained an exclusive clip from the “Gotham” Season 4 premiere, which airs tonight at 8 p.m. on Fox, in which the Penguin is prepping the Iceberg Lounge for its big opening and is speaking to the press inside. Though he’s no longer the mayor, Penguin is still the de facto boss of the Gotham underworld. As such the reporters have some relevant crime-related questions. This leads to Penguin dropping an incredible pun: “Pax Penguina.” If you wanna know the context you’ll have to watch the clip, which you can do above.

There’s one very important detail in the clip that’s easy to miss if you forgot one of the other major bits that occurred at the end of Season 3: the big chunk of ice in the middle of the lounge. The lounge’s titular iceberg is almost certainly inhabited by Ed Nygma (Corey Michael Smith), who Penguin had Mr. Freeze, ah, freeze in the Season 3 finale. Penguin said back then that he wanted to use the frozen Riddler as the centerpiece of his new club, so I’d be surprised if Nygma wasn’t in there. I can’t wait for what will no doubt be a very dramatic melting scene later in the Season 4.

Here’s to another season of “Gotham” madness.
