Charlie Sheen ‘Hammered’ Taco Bell Video Not So Funny Considering His History

Sheen’s drug- and alcohol-fueled troubles cost him TV’s best-paying role in 2010

A “hammered” Charlie Sheen took the time to get out of his car at a Taco Bell drive-through and meet camera-phone-toting fans, creating a viral video that also indicates the state of his battle with alcohol.

“Sorry I’m so f—ing hammered,” says an agreeable Sheen, who appears to have been driven to the Taco Bell by a friend or employee named Gary. He exchanges handshakes with the fans and shows off a Charlie Brown tattoo visible through his half-buttoned shirt.

Sheen’s drug and alcohol binges helped cost him the highest-paying role on television when he was fired from “Two and a Half Men” in 2010. The star went to rehab, then found himself locked in a standoff with Warner Bros. television, CBS and his boss, show creator Chuck Lorre.

In Sheen’s termination letter, lawyers for Warner Bros. said his “drug and alcohol abuse was not only affecting his ability to work on the show, but endangering his life.”

Sheen said he was checking into what he called “the Sober Valley Lodge,” which was actually his own home. He pledged to quit drinking and doing cocaine, and took an on-camera drug test to prove he was as good as his word. He also went on a social media blitz that coined such now-forgotten catch phrases as “winning” and “tiger blood.”

In a 2012 “Good Morning America” interview with Elizabeth Vargas, he conceded that he was drinking again.

“Who doesn’t?” he said. “You drink?”

“Some people who’ve been through rehab don’t drink,” Vargas replied.

“I don’t believe in rehab anymore. It’s not for me,” Sheen said. “It’s not a one size fits all. … We live in a country where it’s always Miller Time. It’s happy hour somewhere in the world.”

(Earlier this year, Vargas helped raise awareness about alcoholism by announcing that she is a recovering alcoholic who is getting help.)

Sheen, who has done numerous stints in real rehab facilities, pleaded guilty in 2010 to misdemeanor third-degree assault on his then-wife, Brooke Mueller Sheen.

After “Men,” Sheen entered a long-term deal to star in FX’s “Anger Management,” which pokes fun at his tumultuous history.

FX did not immediately reply to a request for comment Wednesday.
