Harry Connick, Jr. appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Monday night, and Kimmel asked the new “American Idol” judge what every fan of the show is thinking: Who is the mean judge this year?
“If you don’t know the answer, it’s you,” Kimmel joked (above) as Connick avoided throwing Keith Urban or Jennifer Lopez under the bus.
Connick, a longtime “Idol” fan who previously served as a guest mentor on the reality singing competition, explained that while he doesn’t think he’s “mean” to contestants, he doesn’t shy away from telling the truth.
“If they can’t sing, I say, ‘Bro, you can’t sing.’ And I don’t think that’s mean” Connick said. “I think it would behoove them and benefit them to hear the truth, because sometimes you just have to stop the bleeding.”
“Idol” returns with new judges, new executive producers and new changes to the popular format on Wednesday.
