Harvey Weinstein is being investigated for groping a model over the weekend, a spokesperson for the NYPD informed TheWrap.
The model, an unnamed 22-year-old from Italy, claims Weinstein, 63, grabbed her breasts and either her thigh or hips around 6 p.m. on Friday during a meeting at his offices in the Tribeca Film Center. Police questioned him the following day.
The spokesperson said that a formal complaint has been filed and is being investigated.
A police source told Page Six that Weinstein during the encounter “asked if [her breasts] were real.”
Weinstein is co-chairman, with his brother Bob, of The Weinstein Company, which has been responsible for producing and/or distributing major theatrical releases such as Best Picture winners “The Artist” and “The King’s Speech,” and “The Imitation Game,” which won this year’s Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay.
A source close to Weinstein said, “We believe this is a blackmail attempt, and he did nothing wrong.”
The Weinstein Company did not immediate response to TheWrap‘s request for comment.
