The Hollywood Reporter Makes More Hires (updated)

The moves come in advance of the trade’s relaunch as a glossy weekly

The Reporter has confirmed a list of new hires on its website.

The full list of hires:

David Strick, former photo columnist for Premiere magazine and the L.A. Times, contributing photographer.

Degen Pener, the editor in chief of Angeleno magazine, culture editor.

Bill Higgins, former Variety nightlife columnist, to cover society, events and philanthropy.

Jonathan Handel, counsel at TroyGould, where he practices digital media, entertainment and technology law.

Daniel Miller, from the Los Angeles Business Journal, for the the real estate beat, which he has covered at the Los Angeles Business Journal.

Jennifer Laski, former photo director of Departures, photo director.

Peter Cury, art director at Conde Nast's Self, art director.

Carol McColgin, Us Weekly writer, to oversee all fashion content and market coverage.

The Hollywood Reporter is continuing to make hires in preparation for the trade's makeover into a weekly high-end consumer magazine, reports Keith Kelly in the New York Post.

janice minEditorial director Janice Min has hired former Angeleno Magazine editor-in-chief Degen Pener as culture editor, Peter Cury as art director (from Self magazine), and former Us Weekly lead fashion writer Carol McColgin, as style editor.

Former Variety party reporter Bill Higgins is joining THR as well, TheWrap reported earlier this week.

The new-look THR is set to debut Nov. 3 as a glossy consumer/trade hybrid. The daily print edition will be replaced by a PDF version on the same day.
