Salem may never be free of witchery, especially when it comes to the Sanderson sisters from “Hocus Pocus.” When they first came to Salem to wreak havoc on the town and claim the lives of children to stay young and beautiful, it was 1993, 300 years after they were initially hung for draining the life source of one Emily Binx. Just in the nick of time, Winifred Sanderson cast a curse that ensured the return of the tricky trio. All it took was some airhead virgin lighting a candle.

“Hocus Pocus 2” sees the return of the witches alongside some new characters. A black cat named Cobweb reminds us of Thackery Binx from the first film. Chaos ensues as the Sanderson sisters try to accomplish their original goal in 2022, with iPhones, a Walgreens, Rumba vacuum cleaners and more.

Fans of the original “Hocus Pocus” or those just joining the fandom may be wondering how to watch “Hocus Pocus 2,” and the answers lie below. Read on, if you dare.

When Does “Hocus Pocus 2” Come Out?

The spooky sequel releases September 30, perfect for movie marathons in October to gear up for Halloween.

Is “Hocus Pocus 2” Streaming or in Theaters?

“Hocus Pocus 2” is streaming exclusively on Disney+. Unlike the original, “Hocus Pocus 2” will not be in theaters, so the only way to watch it is by getting a Disney+ subscription.

Who Is in the “Hocus Pocus 2” Cast?

All three Sanderson sisters return thanks to their original actresses who reprise their roles: Bette Midler as Winifred, Sarah Jessica Parker as Sarah and Kathy Najimy as Mary.

Unfortunately, original victorious trio in the first film Max Dennison (Omri Katz), Dani Dennison (Thora Birch) and Allison (Vinessa Shaw) won’t be returning in this installment of the Sanderson sisters’ adventures. Neither will Thackery Binx (Sean Nurray) because his character went to the afterlife along with his sister Emily (Amanda Shepherd).

A new generation of witches is at the ready though — Becca (Whitney Peak), Izzy (Belissa Escobedo) and Cassie (Lilia Buckingham) — and Gilbert (Sam Richardson) helps them discover what they are truly capable of. Hannah Waddingham (“Ted Lasso,” “Sex Education) appears as the Witch Mother, and Tony Hale portrays both the reverend who originally banished the Sanderson sisters from Salem and his descendant, the current day mayor.

What Is “Hocus Pocus 2” About?

The 2022 sequel shows viewers a little bit more about how the Sanderson sisters came to be witches in the first place. Of course, another virgin lights another Black Flame Candle, summoning the sisters back to Salem for a new adventure with newfound aspects of life for them to discover. This all takes place on the full moon of Halloween night, Becca’s sixteenth birthday, which brings Gilbert to remind her that witches discover their powers on their sweet sixteen.
