Hulu has ordered a long-form comedy series from Freddie Wong and the RocketJump team, the people behind YouTube’s “Video Game High School.”

The eight-episode series will go behind the scenes at RocketJump, with each episode chronicling the filmmaking behind the entertainment company’s newest short. The half-hour comedy will be released each week with newly created short videos, which will also premiere exclusively on Hulu.

RocketJump will produce the series in association with Lionsgate Television. The show will join two other originals streaming on Hulu, “Casual” and “Deadbeat.”

“As we continue to add the best talent to Hulu, it was a natural choice for us to partner with Freddie Wong and RocketJump,” said Hulu’s head of originals Beatrice Springborn. “With so many great content creators in the media landscape – from film, to television, to YouTube – Freddie Wong and the RocketJump team undoubtedly bring their own brand of creativity and a new wave of talent to Hulu.”

Added RocketJump co-founder Wong, “We firmly believe the future of television is online, and Hulu has recognized the value of quality long-form series. We’re incredibly excited to bring our brand of over-the-top action and comedy to a new audience in a show that will change the way you look at independent filmmaking.”

From RocketJump and directed by Wong, “Video Game High School” is set in a futuristic world where gaming is the top sport and launches the best players into stardom. The award-winning series just wrapped up Season 3.
