It’s alive — in glorious 70mm.
“I, Frankenstein,” Lionsgate’s futuristic re-imagining of Mary Shelley’s classic monster tale, will be released in IMAX, the company said Tuesday.
The film will be digitally re-mastered into the format and released on IMAX theaters across the U.S. and some international markets beginning Jan. 24, 2014.
“‘I, Frankenstein’ is the kind of action thriller IMAX fans seek out,” Greg Foster, CEO of IMAX Entertainment, said in a statement. “The producers certainly have a strong track record – with the “Underworld” franchise having grossed more than $460 million at the global box office – and we’re excited to team up with them once again as they launch this all new cinematic world.”
The film is set 200 years after the whole monster-creation business. It finds the creature (Aaron Eckhart,) embroiled in the middle of a war over the fate of humanity.
