IFC Picks Up ‘Afterschool’

Film will be released in New York on Oct. 2.

IFC Films has acquired North American distribution rights to "Afterschool," the debut feature of director Antonio Campos.

 

The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2008 and has screened since then in several other festivals.

 

"Afterschool" stars Ezra Miller, Michael Stuhlbarg and Rosemarie Dewitt in a story about the lives surrounding a New England prep school. 

 

It was produced by Sean Durkin and Josh Mond from Borderline Films in association with Hidden Street Productions. 

 

Earlier this year it was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award, and it was nominated for two Gotham awards. 

 

IFC Films will release the film on October 2nd throuh its IFC in Theaters program at the Cinema Village in New York. It will also be available nationwide on video-on-demand beginning September 30th.

 

"Afterschool" is one of the most exciting debut films we’ve come across in quite awhile," said Jonathan Sehring, President of IFC Entertainment.
