ISIS praised the San Bernardino shooters Syed Farook and Tashfeen Malik on Saturday as supporters of the terror group.
“Two followers of Islamic State attacked several days ago a center in San Bernadino in California,” an ISIS member said on its official radio station.”We pray to God to accept them as martyrs.”
These are the first comments from the group in the wake of the deadly massacre that killed 14 on Wednesday at Inland Regional Center.
One of the shooters, Malik, pledged her support to ISIS on Facebook around the same time she and her husband went on the killing spree that also injured 21 others. Farook and Malik were later killed by police in a shootout following a car chase.
ABC News unearthed the first photo of Tashfeen Malik on Friday.
The FBI labeled the massacre an act of terrorism on Friday, but stopped short of crediting it as an ISIS attack.
“A number of pieces of evidence … have essentially pushed us off the cliff to say that we are now investigating this as an act of terrorism,” David Bowdich of the FBI said.
On whether it was ISIS-inspired, Bowdich said, “I think you’re taking a leap; we’re not there.”
