Jason Sudeikis may not have provided a direct response to Mitt Romney’s “Ted Lasso” Halloween costume, but he got close enough, as pointed out by eagle-eyed Twitter users who scanned his “liked” tweets.

In case you missed it, Romney set the internet ablaze on Thursday with a series of GIFs and photos in which the Utah senator is dressed up as Sudeikis’ lovable “Ted Lasso” character. In particular, a GIF featuring Arizona Sen. Kyrsten Sinema really struck a nerve.

In the post, captioned “Biscuits with the boss,” Romney’s Lasso hands Sinema’s Rebecca Welton (played on the Apple TV+ show by Hannah Waddingham) a box of his signature cookies.

Follow-up posts showed Romney tapping a replica of Ted’s trademark “Believe” sign, catching a soccer ball and posing in full Lasso gear, including a mustache.

Referencing Sudeikis’ many impersonations of Romney over the years when the actor was a cast member on “Saturday Night Live,” the final image bore the caption, “After 10 years, I’m finally returning the favor. How was my @TedLasso, @JasonSudeikis?”

For the answer to that question, look no further than Sudeikis’ liked tweets. While Sudeikis himself did not craft a direct response, he gave his endorsement to a tweet by Alex Baze, a writer and producer whose credits include “Late Night with Seth Meyers” and “Saturday Night Live.”

“The scariest thing he could think of was kindness,” Baze’s tweet read.

Baze’s sentiment was echoed not only by fans of the Emmy-winning show, but also by several late-night hosts on Thursday evening.

“Man, you know you’re unpopular when you single-handedly ruin one of America’s favorite TV shows,” Seth Meyers said in a “Late Night” segment. “This just proves once again that we desperately need Roy Kent in Congress, because that picture makes me want to ‘f—ing puke.’”

Jimmy Kimmel also weighed in on the photo of Romney and Sinema, saying, “Aww, aren’t they cute? They’re having so much fun while the country dies… Twitter needs a ‘This May Be Vomit’ button on it.”
