Jeff Daniels Tries to Stop Al-Qaeda in Hulu’s ‘The Looming Tower’ Trailer (Video)

The 10-episode series comes from writer Lawrence Wright and director Alex Gibney

Jeff Daniels stars in the upcoming Hulu drama “The Looming Tower,” which traces the rise of Al-Qaeda and Osama bin Laden.

The 10-episode series, which got its first trailer on Thursday, traces the rising threat of Al-Qaeda in the late 1990s and how the rivalry between the FBI and CIA during that time may have inadvertently set the path for the tragedy of 9/11.

Daniels stars as John O’Neill, a New York-based FBI supervisor. He’s joined by Tahar Rahim as Lebanese-American FBI agent Ali Soufan, Peter Sarsgaard as CIA agent Martin Schmidt, Michael Stuhlbarg as counterterrorism official Richard Clarke and Alec Baldwin as CIA director George Tenet.

The series is an adaptation of the nonfiction book by writer Lawrence Wright and is directed by Alex Gibney. The director previously adapted Wright’s book about the Church of Scientology, “Going Clear” into the 2015 Emmy-winning documentary of the same name.

“The Looming Tower” premieres Feb. 28 on Hulu.
