Jim Carrey Showtime Pilot ‘I’m Dying Up Here’ Casts ‘Me and Earl and the Dying Girl’ Star

RJ Cyler will play a struggling comedian in one-hour comedy

“Me and Earl and the Dying Girl’s” RJ Cyler has been cast in the Showtime pilot “I’m Dying Up Here.”

Cyler will play struggling comedian Adam in the large ensemble comedy. Based on the book by William Knoedelseder, the project is set in Los Angeles during the 1970s.

It is written and executive produced by former stand-up comedian Dave Flebotte (“Will & Grace”). Jim Carrey will executive produce, and Jonathan Levine (“50/50”) will direct. Michael Aguilar (“The Departed”) and Christina Wayne (“Copper”) serve as executive producers for the pilot from Endemol Shine Studios and Assembly Entertainment.

The actor previously starred in “Me and Earl and the Dying Girl” and will appear in HBO’s upcoming series “Vice Principals.”
