With all of the insanity going on at the White House, Jimmy Kimmel wanted to remind everyone of one of the funnier under-the-radar stories going on in the Trump administration: Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson got in trouble for spending ludicrous amounts of money on office furniture.
On Tuesday night’s show, Kimmel showed a clip of Carson at a hearing trying to explain what reason he possibly could have had for spending $31,000 on a dining table for his office before launching into a jokes about Trump’s cabinet turnover, and presenting a faux-orientation video for new cabinet members who will probably be shown the Foor before too long.
“I love that with all this madness going on Ben Carson is being grilled about a dinette set. Ben Carson, by the way, is one of few remaining members of Trump’s original cabinet. Trump goes through cabinet members like he goes through cheeseburgers and Aqua Net,” Kimmel joked. “Last week he fired his body man, his personal assistant and his Secretary of State Rex Tillerson. Rex Tillerson had a two-hour meeting with his replacement yesterday, Mike Pompeo, who currently runs the CIA. Poor Rex Tillerson. Even at the most important jobs in the world, your idiot boss can still make you train your replacement.
“And if you’re Mike Pompeo do you even do anything with your new office when you move in? Do you put up pictures or do you just live out of a bankers box so you can just gather your stuff when it’s time to go? There’s a lot of turnover in the Trump administration so as a service to new incoming cabinet members the White House put together a very helpful and informative orientation video.
Kimmel then played the fake video, in which a man began the orientation by saying that “your job here will last anywhere between three days and 12 weeks, depending on the president’s golf score.”
The man then presented an acronym to help new cabinet members remember how this whole thing is gonna go: FIRED.
F for, the man said, “Fasten your seatbelt, this is going to be a bumpy and very short ride”; I for “Insult”; R for “resume,” which new cabinet members will want to keep up to date; E for “exit”; and D for “door,” which you should not let hit you on your way out.
Clips of Trump firing people on “Celebrity Apprentice” were interspersed throughout the orientation video.
You can watch this portion of Kimmel’s monologue, including the orientation video, from Tuesday’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” in the video above.
