Joanne Froggatt Has No Memory of Her Date With Ioan Gruffudd in ‘Liar’ Preview (Exclusive Video)

SundanceTV drama premieres on Sept. 27

Joanne Froggatt can’t remember the details of a date gone wrong in a new exclusive clip from the upcoming SundanceTV drama “Liar.”

In the clip, a troubled Froggatt (“Downton Abbey”), who plays Laura Nielson on the six-part limited series, visits a friend to tell her that she can’t remember what happened after inviting her date home the previous night. “I don’t know what I did,” she says, on the verge of tears.

Froggatt’s character on the show is a bright and dedicated teacher, who agrees to a seemingly innocent date with Andrew Earlham (Ioan Gruffudd, “Titanic”), a renowned surgeon whose son is a student at Laura’s school. When she accuses him of rape, both their lives are turned upside down and their secrets and lies begin to unravel.

The six-part series is created, written and executive produced by Harry and Jack Williams and co-produced with ITV and All3 Media. Zoe Tapper, Warren Brown, Shelley Conn and Richie Campbell also star.

“Liar” premieres Wednesday, Sept. 27 at 10/9c on SundanceTV.
