Joel McHale and Alec Baldwin will take turns as guest co-hosts on “Live With Kelly” the first week of June, the daytime talk show announced Wednesday.
Radio personality Ryan Seacrest and comedian D.L. Hughley are also slated to host the syndicated daytime show alongside Kelly Ripa.
Hughley will kick off the week on Monday, June 6; McHale will host Tuesday and Wednesday; Seacrest will host on Thursday; and Baldwin will wrap up the week on Friday.
The announcement comes as the search for a new host continues following Michael Strahan‘s departure earlier this month. Similar to the on-air audition process employed after the departure of Regis Philbin in 2011, the show has brought in a parade of guest co-hosts in search of a permanent partner for Ripa.
Jimmy Kimmel, “Empire” star Jussie Smollett, Cedric the Entertainer, “Hawaii Five-0” star Daniel Dae Kim and “World News Tonight’s” David Muir have also appeared as guest co-hosts.
Michael Strahan 'Live' Replacements We'd Like to See (Photos)
Michael Strahan went all the way from the NFL to national TV. But now that he's out at "Live," who might take his place? We offer a few suggestions. Have a look and let us know your thoughts. Michael already peeked and ... well, you see his reaction.
Martin Short. Is there anybody who could bring as much funny as the creator of Ed Grimley, Jiminy Glick and Nathan Thurm? Plus, it would be fun to see Kelly Ripa respond to his characters.
Snoop Dogg. Very few co-hosts could keep the morning-show atmosphere quite as chill. Assuming Snoop actually does mornings.
Kathy Griffin. Having two women co-hosts might be reminiscent of Hoda and Kathie Lee. But if Kelly Ripa can't get Anderson Cooper, getting his New Year's Eve partner might be the next best thing.
Zayn Malik. If the "Pillowtalk" singer joined, there would be only one direction for "Live." And that's straight up.
Ozzy Osbourne. Now that he's split from wife Sharon, the Black Sabbath frontman should have plenty of time for a new gig. Or as he himself might say, "Mmmm-dddddd-ffffff-rrrrr."
Alec Baldwin. The former "30 Rock" star could offer a great PR opportunity for "Live" by having a tabloid-worthy outburst every day.
