John Cena’s Peacemaker Introduces His Pet ‘Eagly’ in New Series Clip (Video)

He shows up in “full cosplay mode,” obviously

Fans may be ready to see more of John Cena’s freedom-at-all-costs anti-hero in HBO Max’s “Peacemaker” series, but the squad Peacemaker is working with is, uh, less than enthused. In a new clip for the series, Amanda Waller’s latest team isn’t exactly gelling right away.

In the minute-long clip, Peacemaker — who is now up and about after that hospital stint at the end of James Gunn’s “The Suicide Squad” — arrives at a cafe to meet his new cohorts. Of course, he’s not exactly hard to spot, thanks to his outfit.

“Did this dips— really show up in full cosplay mode?” Steve Agee’s John Economos asks incredulously. The rest of the team agree, Waller must be “f—ing us.”

As always, Peacemaker is proud of his uniform — he’s insistent that it’s a uniform — no matter how loud and conspicuous it might be. “People see this uniform, it strikes fear in their hearts,” he says with conviction. Plus, it’s new and he needs to break it in and stretch it out before their first mission.

You can watch the full clip in the video above.

Then of course, there’s the other elephant in the room — or rather, the eagle in the car. Because yes, Peacemaker has a pet eagle that comes with him wherever he goes. The bird’s name is Eagly, something the team also mocks. Don’t worry, though: Peacemaker knows they’re just jealous of his exotic pet.

Along with Steve Agee and John Cena, the “Peacemaker” squad is made up of Danielle Brooks, Jennifer Holland and Chukwudi Iwuji. Peter Safran is producing, while James Gunn serves as writer on the series. Gunn also directed multiple episodes, including the pilot. HBO Max has ordered eight episodes of the show so far.

The new clip didn’t reveal an official release date for “Peacemaker,” but it remains set for January 2022.
