‘General Hospital’ Alums Jonathan Jackson, Nathan Parsons to Return for Anthony Geary’s Exit

The actors play Luke Spencer’s onscreen sons on the ABC Soap and will join Genie Francis who is also returning as part of the 27-year-veteran’s farewell storyline

“General Hospital” fans can celebrate the return of two characters before bidding goodbye to a third.

Jonathan Jackson and Nathan Parsons are returning to the ABC soap opera for a limited arc to coincide with Anthony Geary’s last days on the daytime drama, insiders close to the show told TheWrap.

Jackson, who left in 2011, will reprise the role of Lucky Spencer, son of Luke Spencer, played by Geary. Parsons will be back as Luke’s other son, Ethan.

After leaving “General Hospital” in 2011, 33-year-old Jackson joined the cast of “Nashville,” also on ABC, as singer-songwriter Avery Barkley. Parsons is currently on The CW’s “The Originals,” which has been renewed for the fall season.

Geary, who’s played Luke since 1978, announced he was checking out of “General Hospital” last month. It was recently announced that Genie Francis is was returning to the series to reprise the role of Laura Spencer as part of Geary’s exit storyline.

In a statement, “General Hospital” executive producer Frank Valentini divulged that the actor “felt it was the right time” to exit the series.

“Tony recently made his intentions clear that he would vacate his role of Luke Spencer this year, and it was a decision he did not come to lightly. After 37 years on the air, Tony felt this was the right time to bid adieu to Luke Spencer, Port Charles and ‘General Hospital,’” Valentini said.
