Meet J.R. Martinez, the ‘DWTS’ Star Not Just Famous for Being Famous

Army veteran, motivational speaker and soap star has – get this – actual accomplishments

J.R. Martinez is one of the lesser-known members of the new "Dancing With the Stars" cast, but he has some of the biggest actual accomplishments in the group.

An Army infantryman, he suffered burns to more than 40 percent of his body when his Humvee hit a land mine in Iraq in April 2003.

While in recovery, the Louisiana-born Martinez realized he was able to help other wounded soldiers, and soon became an in-demand motivational speaker. In 2009, he joined the cast of "All My Children" as combat veteran Brot Monroe.

He balances his acting and speaking with charity work, according to his website.

We're sure Rob Kardashian is a great guy, too.
