Kanye West’s $53 million in personal debt must be weighing on the rapper — even a $189 computer program appears too big a burden.
Despite his recent “Life of Pablo” album being a fave among illegal downloaders, the megastar rapper tweeted a screenshot of his computer late Tuesday which revealed tabs open for file-sharing site The Pirate Bay and a YouTube ripper.
Oops.
Kanye’s screenshot was meant to show off his listening to Sufjan Stevens’ “Death With Dignity” on YouTube, but the tabs in the background indicated he was downloading a torrent of music editing software Serum and using MediaDownloader to rip songs like Stevens’ off Google’s video site.
Fellow Tidal backer Deadmau5 called Kanye out. The electronic music producer and DJ, whose real name is Joel Thomas Zimmerman, cofounded Xfer Records, the maker of Serum.
What the fuck @kanyewest … Can’t afford serum? Dick. pic.twitter.com/8B2aiyORZs

Deadmau5 rallied his followers to “start a Kickstarter to help Kanye West afford a copy of Serum. He needs a small loan of $200 #prayforyeezy,” in a follow-up tweet.
