Kanye West Makes His Stand-Up Comedy Debut in Recut Version of His VMAs Speech (Video)

Outspoken rapper provides unintended laughs in edited footage

If this whole music thing doesn’t work out for Kanye West, he might have a career in comedy.

For all of those (that would be most of us) who were befuddled by West’s  ramble-thon while accepting the Video Vanguard Award at the MTV VMAs on Sunday, the Internet has provided a perfectly reasonable explanation.

As it turns out, West’s awards-show filibuster was actually a comedy routine. It was just missing a laugh track.

A cleverly recut video of West’s appearance unearths the comic potential of the event, splicing in laughs as the rapper riffs on his befuddlement over awards ceremonies.

Of course, the biggest joke of West’s speech — his announcement that he plans to run for president in 2020 — needs no enhancement.

Don’t forget to tip your waitress, folks.

Watch West unintentionally crack up the VMAs crowd in the video below.
