Kate Hudson and Matt Bellamy Not Married, Goldie Hawn Now Says

Would-be mother in law Goldie Hawn clarifies that daughter Kate Hudson and her fiance Matt Bellamy haven’t tied the knot, after saying they did in an interview

Goldie Hawn has called off her daughter Kate Hudson's marriage to Muse frontman Matt Bellamy, after prematurely declaring that the nuptials had taken place.

Hawn sent the rumor mills spinning over the weekend, when she offhandedly mentioned Hudson's marriage to Bellamy in an interview with the London Evening Standard.

After a number of media outlets (including — full disclosure — TheWrap) picked up Hawn's quote, the 66-year-old "Private Benjamin" star took to her Twitter account to clarify — or backpedal, given one's perspective.

Hawn claimed that her statement was "twisted," emphasizing that Hudson and Bellamy had not, in fact, tied the knot.

"Darling once again twisted the truth," Hawn wrote. "They aren't married. Xx"

It's not clear who "Darling" refers to — Hawn didn't elaborate on whether she misspoke during the interview, or if the paper had misinterpreted her statement. (The Evening Standard has not yet responded to TheWrap's request for clarification.)

"When my daughter Kate married an English rock star [Matt Bellamy] it didn’t worry me; all that matters is that the relationship is a good one," the paper quotes Hawn as saying. "What people do is not necessarily who they are. Kate hasn’t picked up too many English mannerisms, she’s held on to her identity quite well."

Hudson and Bellamy announced their engagement in April 2011, and welcomed a son, Bingham, last July.

"Bride Wars" actress Hudson, 32, was previously married to Black Crowes singer Chris Robinson. The pair have a son, Ryder, together.
