“American Housewife” is going to see a full season at ABC.

The series starring Katy Mixon as a full-figured suburban mom scored the crucial order late Friday from top ABC programmer Channing Dungey. The additional nine episodes will give “American Housewife” a total of 22 this season.

Originally titled “Fattest Housewife,” the comedy was created and written by Sarah Dunn and produced by ABC Studios. Aaron Kaplan, Rick Wiener and Kenny Schwartz are executive producers.

“American Housewife” is the No. 1 comedy on Tuesdays, averaging 7.7 million total viewers and a 2.4 rating/8 share in the adults aged 18 to 49 demographic, according to Nielsen. The series has held up well against some powerful competition from NBC’s singing show “The Voice.”

Meanwhile, ABC also ordered another three episodes of “The Real O’Neals,” the Martha Plimpton comedy that premiered back in March. That will bring its second-season order to 16.
