Kerry Washington Is ‘Late Night’s’ 300th Guest, But Still Won’t Spill ‘Scandal’ Secrets (Video)

Through the guise of a singing telegram, one of Seth Meyer’s writers asks several questions to TV’s Olivia Pope

Kerry Washington was honored for a dubious milestone during her appearance Monday night on NBC’s “Late Night With Seth Meyers.” The “Scandal” star was delighted to hear that she’d been the show’s 300th guest.

In celebration, one of Meyers’ writers, Amber, came out in the guise of a singing telegram, celebrating Washington. But it quickly turned into an opportunity for Amber to inundate Washington with questions about the Shonda Rhimes show.

Washington took issue at one point with Amber, after she referred to Katie Lowes’ character Quinn as a “slut.”

“That’s like slut-shaming,” Washington said. “I don’t think she’s a slut.”

Eventually, Meyers had to stop the whole thing, realizing that there was no way Washington could even be their 300th guest. Amber had apparently only concocted that story so she could come out and ask Washington all those questions about the ABC hit.

“And I get to wear a hat,” she said defiantly.

It turned out Washington was actually the 360th guest. The 300th honor went to Nick Jonas.

“I don’t have any questions for Nick Jonas!” Amber shouted by way of explanation.

“Scandal” airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on ABC. “Late Night with Seth Meyers airs every weeknight at 12:37 a.m. ET on NBC.
