Kevin Bacon is in negotiations to star in Jill Soloway‘s Amazon pilot “I Love Dick,” TheWrap has confirmed.
“The Following” star will join “Transparent” actress Kathryn Hahn in the comedy based on the 1997 novel by Chris Kraus. Soloway, the creator of Amazon’s “Transparent,” will direct the pilot, and Sarah Gubbins will write.
Set in the small town of Marfa, Texas, the series follows a husband and wife in a failing marriage who discover they are obsessed with the same man, a professor named Dick, played by Bacon.
Hahn will play the wife; the husband role has not yet been cast.
Through that obsession, they go on a journey of self-discovery. Told in “Rashomon”-style shifts of POV, “I Love Dick” charts the unraveling of a marriage, the awakening of an artist and the reluctant deification of Bacon’s character.
Soloway will executive produce the series with Andrea Sperling under their Topple Productions banner and their overall deal with Amazon Studios. Gubbins will co-executive produce.
Bacon most recently starred in Fox’s “The Following” for three seasons. He is also set to star in the films “The Darkness” in May and Mark Wahlberg‘s Boston bombing movie “Patriots’ Day” early next year. He is repped by WME.
