Kevin Connolly Hopes to Direct Kimbo Slice Life Story After ‘Entourage’ (Exclusive)

Connolly learned of UFC star from YouTube backyard brawls

Kevin Connolly hopes to follow up the final season of "Entourage" by producing and directing a movie about mixed martial artist Kimbo Slice.

"I'm trying to get the Kimbo Slice story made," Connolly told TheWrap. "I have his life rights, we have a script that's great. It's out and about, and the powers that be are trying to put the money together."

Connolly hopes the Ultimate Fighting Championship star and occasional actor (left) will play himself in the film. Slice was a bodyguard for a Miami-based porn company when he began holding backyard fights and posting them online.

"Kimbo Slice is known as one of the first YouTube celebrities," Connolly said. "He was the first person I ever sat in front of a computer and typed somebody's name into YouTube. His fights ended up on the internet, his backyard fights, and he all of the sudden… became this celebrity."

Connolly said Slice's life story isn't just about mixed martial arts or ultimate fighting, but about his unlikely road to success, including at one point living out of his car. Slice, born Kevin Ferguson, sat down with a screenwriter to share details of his life.

"It's so personal to sit with a writer who you don't know and tell them your deepest, darkest secrets and your life story, so I think it took him a second to get used to," Connolly said. "But him and the writer really hit it off, and I couldn't be happier with the script. I'm ready to go."

Connolly made his feature directorial debut with 2007's "Gardener of Eden, produced by Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way.

"Entourage" returns for its final eight episodes on July 24.
