ABC has given a put pilot commitment to an untitled comedy from “Man Seeking Woman” creator Simon Rich, who just signed an overall deal with ABC Studios.
Rich, who previously had a deal at FX, will write and executive produce the family comedy. “The Last Man on Earth” star Kristen Schaal is attached to both produce and star in the project.
Told from a child’s perspective, the series is “about working together, overcoming adversity and getting the monsters in your closet not to eat you,” according to the official description.
The news comes after Schaal’s Fox comedy “The Last Man on Earth” was canceled after a four-season run. The actress also lends her voice to Fox’s animated “Bob’s Burgers” and Netflix’s “Bojack Horseman.”
Rich’s experimental FXX comedy “Man Seeking Woman” was canceled last spring, with his follow-up, the Steve Buscemi-led “Miracle Workers,” to premiere on TBS next year.
