The new “House of Gucci” trailer dropped on Thursday and it shows the first introduction between Lady Gaga’s Patrizia Reggiani and Adam Driver’s Maurizio Gucci.
In a quick snippet from the November 26-due film, Reggiani introduces herself to Gucci at the bar in a nightclub. Gucci responds by bending over and kissing her gloved hand.
As the trailer unfolds, Reggiani begins to get a taste of the Gucci lifestyle.
“Gucci is like a cake,” Driver says. “You have a taste, then you want more, and then you want the whole thing for yourself.”
Set to Blondie’s classic song “Heart of Glass,” the latest trailer offers subtle hints at the drama to come.
The story unravels around Reggiani’s involvement in her ex-husband’s death. When Maurizio leaves her for a younger woman, she hires a hit man to kill him.
The movie will also include the aftermath of the Italian businessman’s death, based on events that took place in 1995.
Directed by Ridley Scott, “House of Gucci” also stars Jared Leto, Jeremy Irons, Al Pacino and Salma Hayek. It was written by Roberto Bentivegna and is based on Sara Gay Forden’s novel “The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed.”
According to CEO Marco Bizzarri, Gucci gave the production complete access to archives for costumes, but not every family member was happy about the film being made.
“We are truly disappointed. I speak on behalf of the family,” Patricia Gucci, second cousin of Maurizio told the Associated Press in April. “They are stealing the identity of a family to make a profit, to increase the income of the Hollywood system. … Our family has an identity, privacy. We can talk about everything, but there is a borderline that cannot be crossed.”
