For Lady Gaga, torture is the new blasphemy.
A few months back, her "Judas" single and video – which was released, naturally, during Easter week – raised eyebrows and made headlines with the Lady cooing lines like "Jesus is my virtue/And Judas is the demon I cling to."
Now, after teasing us a week and a half ago with a photo of her in drag as her male alter ego, Joe Calderone, Lady Gaga has used her 1,000th tweet to link to Vevo, where her new video for the country-rockish stomper "You and I" debuted.
The video pays tribute to the song's vaguely down-home vibe with shots of the singer walking down a country road, cavorting in the middle of a cornfield as both a rural blonde and as Calderone, and engaging in a full-scale dance number in a barn, with a herd of backup dancers.
But there's also scenes of her as a mermaid, and occasionally of her strapped to a wheel and undergoing torture (kinky but not too explicit) at the hands of a hunky tormentor.
And, oh yeah, there's lots of sex and partial nudity. But then, you probably could have guessed that.
The tweet that introduced the video, by the way, ran thusly: "You must love all + every part of me, as must I, for this complex + incomprehensible force to be true."
