Lara Spencer: ‘I Am Deeply Sorry’ for ‘Insensitive’ Remark About Prince George’s Ballet Class

“Good Morning America” co-anchor sits down with three influential male dancers to understand their experiences

“Good Morning America” host Lara Spencer apologized for “insensitive” commentary about Prince George’s ballet classes on Monday morning, three days after she made the remarks during a segment on ABC’s morning show.

“The comment I made about dance was insensitive. It was stupid and I am deeply sorry,” she said before announcing that she had interviewed “three influential dancers who have lived it firsthand.”

In a clip of the interview Spencer said was meant to “turn a negative into a positive,” she told Robbie Fairchild, Fabrice Calmels and Travis Wall, “Thank you guys for being here. It has been a true education for me and an opportunity, I hope.”

The three male dancers told their stories of being ridiculed for pursuing dance and Fairchild commended Spencer for being “brave enough to open up about something that may have came out not intentionally how you meant it.”

Broadway stars, celebrities and journalists were among those rebuking Spencer after the Thursday segment during which she laughed when announcing the British royal’s daily classes included ballet, which Prince William claimed his son enjoyed.

Spencer issued an initial apology Friday on her Instagram, writing, “My sincere apologies for an insensitive comment I made in pop news yesterday. From ballet to anything one wants to explore in life, I say GO FOR IT. I fully believe we should all be free to pursue our passions. Go climb your mountain-and love every minute of it.”
