Sean Bean says Season 1 of his TNT drama “Legends,” didn’t “quite live up to expectations.”

The series, which was canceled by the network last month, ran for two seasons, the first of which the actor said was a let down.

“I was disappointed with it. Having heard the plot for it, the pitch for it, it didn’t quite live up to expectations,” Bean said. “I thought it was a bit sanitized.”

The actor does admit that the series did turn itself around in Season 2 with the addition of new writers, but by then it was too late.

“I think when people saw the name ‘Legends’ come up, they looked back and saw that last year wasn’t the greatest, and I think it was stuck with that kind of image.”

The actor was appearing on a panel at the 2016 Television Critics Association winter press tour for his A&E series “The Frankenstein Chronicles,” which is billed as a re-imagining of the classic myth set in 19th century London.
