ThinkProgress, the liberal news site of the Center for American Progress, is for sale.

This is according to a report from the Daily Beast, which says the site’s employees were notified Monday and the think tank will begin searching for prospective buyers.

Readers of TheWrap’s media coverage will know ThinkProgress’ writers are politically engaged and active in online debates, but in spite of employees’ permanent place in the discourse, the Daily Beast report notes the site has fallen on hard financial times under President Donald Trump.

Reached for comment, ThinkProgress provided TheWrap with the same statement given to the Daily Beast.

Navin Nayak, executive director of the Center for American Progress Action Fund, said the site “has thrived as an important source of reporting and analysis for millions of Americans” and is suffering under financial strains. Notably, he also said “events over the last few years have underscored the divergent missions of American Progress and ThinkProgress.”

Ideally, he said, the site will continue to function doing “the important work done everyday by its talented and devoted journalists” under its new publisher.
